Welcome to my website!  I am the founder and sole principal designer of Lucie Hird Interiors, a residential interior design firm based in the San Francisco Bay Area. 

I come from an international background. I was born in South Africa, grew up in Zimbabwe, and settled in the UK before moving to Singapore and then California where I am staying put! Travel has exposed me to so many different Interior Design aesthetics and has given me a unique perspective on living spaces that encourages individual culture and taste in the home.

I have always been drawn to color, texture and design, inspired by my mother who had a passion for fabric, and for re-finishing furniture that she had acquired somehow!  I love to create unique homes that speak about the people who live there. Whether working on a blank canvas or incorporating existing sentimental pieces, I aim to create a cohesive look that is timeless and beautiful with good sound design elements weaved in.

Color inspires and energizes me and I believe in the philosophy that the colors of your home should be a reflection of who you are – your personality, family, passions and interests in life.   Often people get stuck with color and revert back to basics like white or grey, but with my enthusiasm for color and pattern I aim to give you the confidence to bring them back into your life! 

I am also a wife and mother of two teenage boys who keep me on my toes and on my mission to find fabrics that can deal with the chaos that a family can create!
